Listening to customers is key to building a great product. Recently, at Business Liferaft, we made a small update to our web app that’s already making a big difference for our users. At Business Liferaft, speed of change is one of our strengths. After speaking with the customer and identifying the issue, the update was ready for release within just a few hours. Our team is committed to fast, efficient changes, ensuring that user feedback quickly turns into real improvements. We pride ourselves on being agile, adapting our app to meet user needs without delay. This rapid pace of innovation allows us to constantly enhance the user experience and stay ahead in delivering the best possible solutions.
Why Small Improvements Matter
Before, when creating an estimate, users needed to set up an account before selecting a contact. Existing users knew this, so the workflow made sense to them. However, for new users this caused confusion and slowed things down. After talking with one of our new users, we realized the process should be simpler: create the estimate and account from the same place without extra steps. The result? A smoother, faster workflow that saves time and frustration.
It’s easy to overlook the little things, but those are often the most important. This update may seem minor, but it removes an unnecessary roadblock for users. Many of our customers don’t want to think about extra steps—they just want to get their work done efficiently. By simplifying the process, we’ve taken away the frustration of having to go back and forth between different sections of the app. These small improvements are what make our product intuitive and user-friendly.
How Listening to Users Drives Smart Changes
The idea for this update came from a conversation with a customer. They pointed out that setting up an account before creating an estimate felt clunky. It wasn’t an issue we noticed right away. But the feedback highlighted a friction point in the user experience. Once we understood the problem, the solution became clear: users should be able to create an estimate with just the contact details, and the account can be set up right there, in the same flow. This seemingly small tweak has made things easier for everyone.
The Impact of Seamless Workflow on Productivity
The change might seem subtle, but it has a big impact on daily productivity. Before, users would have to leave their current screen, search for the right contact, set up a new account, and then return to set up the estimate. Now, they can do everything in one place. No more bouncing between pages or second-guessing where to find customer information.
Our existing users are benefiting too. Now they can find their Customers using their business account details or by selecting any Contact connected to the main Account. Business Names can be confusing when you include Trade Names being completely different to Company Names. ABC Limited may trade as Alpha Bonds and searching for one may not get the other. Now, our Users may not know the Business name but they know who they have been talking to. Searching for Peter Jones will get the account for Alpha Bonds. We now provide more ways to find what you need.
Continuous Improvement Builds a Better Product
At Business Liferaft, we believe that many small changes add up to a great product. Each update we release is aimed at refining the experience, making things faster, and eliminating confusion. Whether it’s reducing the number of clicks needed or simplifying how tasks are completed, these updates have one goal: helping our users work smarter, not harder. And often, the most valuable improvements come from listening closely to what our users need.
Conclusion: Small Tweaks, Big Benefits
This recent update to our web app is just one example of how listening to customers and making thoughtful, incremental changes can drastically improve the user experience. The ability to create estimates without detours has not only streamlined the workflow but also shown us the value of paying attention to the little things. In the end, small tweaks make all the difference. And we’re not stopping here—we’ll continue listening and refining to build the best possible product for our users.
